We have gathered clothes and book-sacks and tried on our clothes for the first day. They look so grown on this day more so than any other day of the year and I do not know why. It seems like yesterday they were little ones in diapers crawling around watching Elmo. Now I have one in college who will be 20, a 6th grader, 2nd grader and Kindergärtner.....(insert a mass of mommie tears and shouts of joy. Its a mixed emotion.) Before I know it, they will all be moving on with their own families and I will be left here with my empty nest. I don't know how I will react in those days, probably get a Harley and take off to get a new tattoo or something. Then again, buy the time the youngest graduates I will more than likely have a walker and limited mobility.
I say this all in fun because I love every minute of my days with my kids and love the stories I have and will have over the course of their life. Its what makes our lives interesting and what makes us a family no matter how dysfunctional we are.
I do pray that tomorrow goes smoothly for my kids, and for their teachers. I pray the kids are receptive this year to everything the teachers are teaching and that they learn it well. I pray for my kids teachers to have patience because I know far too well how difficult my bunch can be. With that, I am headed to bed because tomorrow starts the 2010-2011 school year!
